Spotlight on Excellence: Linda Collette

If you live in Ludlow, you’ve probably heard the name Linda Collette.

Linda has a lifelong passion for serving Ludlow that she has shared with us all, bolstering Town pride every step of the way.

Read on below:

For more than 40 years, Linda Collette has been a driving force behind Ludlow’s volunteer spirit. Giving back isn’t just something she does — it’s who she is. Growing up with parents who were deeply involved in community work, Linda says volunteering was “ingrained” in her upbringing. That early example sparked a lifelong passion for service and a commitment to making Ludlow stronger.

Among her many projects, Linda’s current favorite is the new “Light Up Ludlow” initiative, created in partnership with the Rotary Club and the Town of Ludlow. This festive event brings a 22-foot tree to Town Hall, where residents can purchase $5 ornaments to decorate and add their own touch of holiday cheer. For Linda, it’s more than just a tree — it’s a symbol of community connection and pride.

Volunteering, she says, has enriched her life in countless ways. But she’s also candid about the challenges: too few hands often means burnout for current volunteers, and the town misses opportunities for even more community events. Linda emphasizes that there’s room for everyone to pitch in — whether it’s helping with Celebrate Ludlow, cleaning up local parks, or supporting town committees. “Many hands make light work,” she says with a smile, “and every little bit helps make our town better.”

Known across town and wanted by nearly every committee, sports team, and booster group, Linda is more than a volunteer — she’s a role model. Her story is a reminder that one person’s energy and dedication can ripple through a community — and that Ludlow’s spirit shines brightest when more people join in.
