Happy Fourth of July!

Happy Fourth of July, Ludlow!

Today, we’re celebrating community and the spirit of independence. Whether you’re heading to a backyard cookout, catching fireworks later tonight, or just taking it easy with family and friends, we hope you have a safe and happy holiday.

An important reminder: fireworks are illegal in Massachusetts! Please keep yourself and your loved ones safe by sticking to fireworks displays that are run by licensed professionals.

Spotlight on Excellence

The Ludlow Department of Public Works plays a vital role in keeping our community running smoothly. From maintaining roads and parks to ensuring reliable waste services, their work impacts nearly every part of daily life in town.

It’s not just about infrastructure — it’s about supporting the community we all call home. Read more below:

The Ludlow Department of Public Works is the team behind the scenes, showing up early in the morning, staying late during storms, and working year-round to make sure Ludlow is safe, clean, and welcoming.

Currently, the DPW is working hard to get our parks and recreation facilities in top shape for the summer. It also recently rolled out the Town’s new trash program, which allows residents to efficiently recycle bottles, glass, cans and cardboard alongside their regular trash.

The DPW is also involved in a plethora of community events, including the Town’s 250th Celebrations over the past year. The team donated countless hours, lots of manpower, and valuable equipment to help pull off events such as the 250th Parade, Block Party and Fall Fest!

DPW staff also play a large part in the beloved annual community event, FESTA, and work alongside the Girl and Boy Scouts of America, Ludlow Public Schools, and other Town Organizations to hold yearly tree planting ceremonies as part of the Town’s participation in Tree City USA.

Like our Police and Fire Departments, the DPW is on call 24 hours a day, ready to help our community when we need them most. Whether partnering with Town and community organizations, attending events, paving and clearing our roads, cleaning our parks, or handling billing, the DPW strives for excellence. The list of what they do for us goes on and on, and we thank them for their dedication to Ludlow.

Congrats to Lt. Det. David Kornacki on his retirement!

Lt. Det. David Kornacki, who has worked with the Ludlow Police Department for more than 30 years, will officially retire on July 11.

We thank him for his service to our community and wish him all the best in his retirement.
