Town Administrator Marc Strange and 250th Celebration Committee Co-Chairs Linda Collette and Kathy Ouimette are excited to announce that Ludlow will celebrate its 250th Anniversary on Saturday, June 15. Festivities will include a parade through town followed by a block party picnic.
This historic event will commemorate Ludlow’s rich history and vibrant community spirit with a day and evening full of festivities, entertainment and activities for all ages.
Festivities will last throughout the day, kicking off with the grand parade at 10 a.m.
Event Details:
- Date: Saturday, June 15
- Time: 10 a.m. (start of parade) to 11 p.m. (end of block party picnic)
- Route: Ludlow’s Grand 250th Anniversary Parade – starting at Ludlow High School via Chapin to East Street and ending at Veterans Memorial Park
- Where: Veterans Memorial Park/Memorial Field, 11 East St.
- Why: Celebration of the February 28, 1774, signing of our charter.
- What: 20 floats, 16 musical groups, 107 units, approximately 1,200 participants
Block Party Picnic:
- Date: June 15
- Time: 11:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
- Location: Veterans Memorial Park/Memorial Field, 11 East St.
- Activities:
- Live music all day and night
- Kid’s entertainment
- Amusement rides
- 50+ craft vendors
- 20+ non-profits, civic groups, and businesses
- 22 food trucks
- Grand finale fireworks display. The best viewing point is Memorial Park/Memorial Field at 11 East Street in Ludlow.

- Throughout the day, the marquee at Hubbard Memorial Library will display historical pictures of the Town of Ludlow through the years.

- Parking and Accessibility:
- Motorists are encouraged to enter the Town of Ludlow via the Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90), Ludlow exit 54, or from Burnett Road in Chicopee. Multiple road closures will occur during the parade, and this will be the easiest access point.
- Access to the U.S. Post Office in Ludlow, if necessary, will be possible the entire time.
- During the event, street parking will be permitted throughout the Town of Ludlow.
- Once the parade is over, there will be a designated, free public parking area at Ludlow High School, which will also offer a shuttle service between the block party picnic area and the high school starting at 2:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. The pick-up area at the Block Party Picnic will be located at the corner of Winsor and Sewall Streets.
- ADA-accessible parking spaces are located off Sewall Street adjacent to Memorial Fields. The area will be posted and police-monitored.
- ADA-accessible bathrooms are available at various locations throughout town.
- Health and Safety Protocols: A first aid station will be available at the Ludlow Public Safety Command Post at Memorial Park.
