Town of Ludlow Receives Lifesaving AED Donations from KEVS Foundation

Town Administrator Marc Strange, Police Chief Daniel Valadas and Fire Chief Ryan Pease are proud to announce the installation of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) at two critical locations: the Anna Dias Soccer Fields on State and Norwood Streets and Lusitano Stadium at 400 Winsor Street. These AEDs are now available to the public, enhancing our community’s emergency response capabilities.

In an emergency, residents can dial 911 to access these lifesaving devices. Ludlow Central Dispatch will provide the caller with the code to unlock the AED box, ensuring rapid response in critical situations. The AEDs are secured in locked boxes mounted in easily accessible locations at both sites.

These installations were made possible through generous donations from the KEVS Foundation, facilitated by the Anna Dias Foundation and the Western United Pioneers. The KEVS Foundation, led by Director and Founder Susan Canning, is dedicated to preventing Sudden Cardiac Arrest in children and young adults through education and community support.

“We are deeply grateful for these lifesaving additions to our community,” said Chief Pease. “The placement of AEDs at these key locations significantly boosts our readiness to handle cardiac emergencies and protect our residents.”

“Access to an AED can be absolutely critical, especially during public events where larger groups of people come together,” said Chief Valadas. “All those who have been trained in CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) will remember to ask a bystander to go look for an AED. Now they are within reach at these two facilities.”

The Ludlow Police and Fire Departments are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our community. The addition of these AEDs represents an important step in our ongoing efforts to enhance public health and emergency preparedness.
