Ludlow’s “Last Night”

This February, the month of love, we are excited for the community to experience the “labor of love” that has been Ludlow’s 250th celebration, spearheaded by the 250th Committee. The end of Ludlow’s 250th celebration is fast approaching, and the 250th Committee has put together a fantastic community event to celebrate!

The Last Night event, held on Saturday, Feb. 22 at Ludlow High School, will be a fun-filled, family-friendly celebration with live music, food trucks, 50+ crafters, artisans and authors, visits from characters, free kids crafts, a bonfire, and a fireworks presentation. If the weather permits and we have snow, there will also be fun snow-related activities. In attendance will be the Sheriff’s Department, mounted patrol, Ludlow Police and Fire, Ludlow Health Department, local scout troops, and representatives from local non-profits!

Read on to discover more about Ludlow’s 250th Committee, its work over the past year, and everything they’ve done to showcase our wonderful community.

Upcoming Events

The Ludlow 250th Committee is comprised of Chairwoman Linda Collette, Co-Chair Kathleen Ouimette, Secretary Anthony Curto, Treasurer Regina Stanek, and members Bruce Durand, David Sady, Derek DeBarge, Christina Yacono, Paul Chrzan, and Elaine Hodgman.

The Committee’s work has greatly impacted Ludlow and the surrounding communities, bringing people together through community events and fundraisers while showcasing what our Town has to offer.

Last February, exactly one year ahead of Ludlow’s 250th birthday celebration, the Committee kicked off a year of celebration with “First Night.” In April, they hosted a tag sale at Ludlow High School, where they raised $60,000 to fund parade expenses. They also raised funds at the 250th Golf Tournament in May. On June 15, 2024, more than 20 floats paraded around Town during the Commission’s first parade of the year.

Though the upcoming 250th celebration marks the end of Ludlow’s birthday festivities, many of the events that took place over the past year will continue, including the popular Halloween and Christmas house decorating contests and the Fall Festival which featured live music, crafters, amusements, and food trucks. Also continuing will be the Pancake Breakfast with Santa and the Town Christmas Tree Lighting event, held at Town Hall in early December.

Chairwoman Collette reflected on the many moving parts of this initiative and thanked the Committee’s supporters:

“We are all very proud to have produced so many wonderful events that will be long remembered,” she said. “We are all humbled by the countless accolades and compliments we’ve received. We are so thankful that the Board of Selectmen has entrusted this committee to create a year-long celebration that will long be remembered. Also, we are grateful for all of the financial support of so many businesses and private donations; we could not have done this without that generosity. And, of course, a huge thank you to the many hard-working volunteers we have.”

Thank you to the dedicated 250th Committee members who have done so much to benefit our community!
